Penetration tested

All Arai helmets are always designed and tested for protection against penetration, even if this is not required by the current European standard ECE 22-05.
The Arai penetration test is performed with a 3kg pointed test body dropped onto the helmet from a height of 3 metres.

Smooth shape, better accident protection

The smooth outer shell of an Arai helmet is designed in this shape to allow the helmet to slide over obstacles with as little resistance as possible in the event of an accident. The aim is to generate as few rotational forces as possible by twisting. This is also the reason why all Arai ventilation elements are always designed and mounted in such a way that they detach from the helmet without resistance in the event of an accident.

Organic shape

In the shape of its outer shells, Arai is always guided by the natural, organic shape of the human head. This minimises air turbulence, improves wearing comfort and is visually more attractive.

Washable interior

The premium quality of the interior materials used basically allows an Arai helmet to be easily wet cleaned with lukewarm water and mild soap.

Hard outer shell, soft inner shell

Arai uses a hard outer shell to disperse impact energy in the event of an accident and a softer inner shell to absorb the remaining energy afterwards. The unique, one-piece EPS inner shell used here combines up to 5 different densities of material in just one shell.

Double-D closure

The flat double-D closure fits gently to the user's head without interfering. No moving parts, no susceptibility to rust, a chinstrap that always fits snugly and the impossibility of opening by oneself are convincing arguments for this type of closure.

Different sized outer shells

Unlike other helmet manufacturers, Arai uses a separate outer shell for each of two helmet sizes in most models for safety reasons. This, and the different Arai models, means that every user can find exactly the helmet that fits and pleases them personally best.

Comfort for every day

Comfort for every day is achieved through the combination of organic shapes of the shell and individually adjustable fits of the padding. High-quality textile materials and effective ventilation complete the picture. Thanks to a perfect balance and a low centre of gravity of the construction, Arai helmets are designed to be worn for a long time without tiring or affecting the user.

Made by hand

It takes up to 5 years before an Arai employee earns the right to make an outer shell. 27 steps and about 18 working hours are necessary to create a perfect Arai helmet.

Five quality tests
